Hazel Greenlee Smith, 55
Belvidere-Hazel M. Smith, 55, a lifelong Belvidere resident, died Thursday, Jan 10, 2002, in her home after a lengthy illness. Born May 3, 1946, in Hebron to Joseph and Constance Groves Greenlee. Graduate of Belvidere High School, class of 1965. Employed 29 years at Chrysler Corp., Belvidere Assembly Plant, retiring as an inspector in 2001. Member of John Hugo Kaiser VFW Post 1461 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 77 Auxiliary and Belvidere U. A. W. Union Local 1268. Survivors include daughter, Angela Figueroa of Belvidere; sister, Carol Smith of Belvidere; grandchildren, Alyssia Figueroa, Ricardo Figueroa and Allison Figueroa; brothers, Larry Greenlee of Belvidere, Kenneth Greenlee of Rockford, Bobert (Janet) Groves of South Beloit and Richard (Debora) Greenlee of San Diego; nieces, Brenda Smith of Belvidere and Georgina Greenlee of Perth, Australia; and nephew Carl Greenlee of Belvidere. Predeceased by parents; son, Richard Smith; and brothers, Kevin Greenlee and Charles Greenlee.
Services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, with the Rev. Joy Starwalt, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan 14, in the funeral home, where a memorial is established in her name.
